A colorful and fun ice cream made with Skittles, perfect for a sweet treat without the need for an ice cream maker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream, cold
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 bag (15.5 ounces) Skittles candy
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Yellow gel food coloring
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • Purple gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Place a loaf pan into the freezer to chill.
  2. Set a few Skittles aside for garnish and divide the remaining Skittles by color into 5 small ziploc bags. Use a rolling pin to crush each bag of Skittles.
  3. Add the crushed Skittles to 5 separate small bowls to keep the colors separated.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently stir in the condensed milk to the cream mixture until combined.
  6. Divide the mixture between the 5 bowls with the crushed Skittles.
  7. Add gel food coloring to each bowl to match the color of Skittles until you achieve the desired shade. Use regular food coloring if gel is unavailable, but a larger quantity may be necessary.
  8. Remove the loaf pan from the freezer and add the colored ice cream mixture into the pan. Separate the colors by creating stripes or spooning in a couple tablespoons of each color at a time.
  9. Garnish the top of the ice cream with a few leftover Skittles. Place in the freezer and chill for 6-8 hours in a level spot until the ice cream is set.
  10. Scoop into a cone or bowl to serve. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the heavy cream is very cold for better whipping.
  • Use a level spot in the freezer to prevent the ice cream from melting unevenly.
  • Feel free to experiment with different colors and flavors of candy.
