Ingredients
Scale
2–3 lbs tri-tip roast
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
Rub the tri-tip roast with olive oil and then coat it evenly with the spice mixture.
Place the tri-tip on the grill and sear for about 5-7 minutes on each side.
Reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking for about 20-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F for medium-rare.
Remove the tri-tip from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Slice against the grain and serve with fresh herbs for garnish.
Notes
For best results, marinate the tri-tip overnight with the spice rub.
Adjust the cayenne pepper according to your spice preference.
Serve with your favorite sides like grilled vegetables or a fresh salad.
