Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup blood orange olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a lighter flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh blood orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine the Base: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the blood orange juice, vinegar, Dijon mustard, and honey until smooth.
  2. Add Olive Oil: Slowly drizzle in the blood orange olive oil while whisking continuously to create a creamy emulsion.
  3. Season to Taste: Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Adjust sweetness or acidity as needed.
  4. Store and Serve: Transfer the vinaigrette to a jar with a tight lid and refrigerate. Shake well before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of minced garlic or a teaspoon of finely chopped fresh herbs like thyme or basil.
  • The vinaigrette will naturally separate when stored, so give it a good shake before each use.
  • Best consumed within 5–7 days when stored in the refrigerator.
