Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • Red and blue food coloring
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • Fresh strawberries and blueberries for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain, add red food coloring to the second, and blue food coloring to the third.
  8. Pour the batters into greased cake pans, layering them to create a striped effect.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting with whipped cream.
  11. Decorate with fresh strawberries and blueberries on top.

Notes

  • Ensure the cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors.
