Description

Savor the perfect homemade sausage and cheese pizza topped with a zesty herbed tomato sauce. This quick-rise dough and flavorful toppings make pizza night truly special!


Ingredients

For the Dough:
125 ml warm water
7 g active dry yeast
5 g sugar
125 g all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
3 g salt
10 ml olive oil

For the Sauce and Toppings:
3–4 tablespoons tomato sauce
1 teaspoon paprika
Fresh parsley, chopped (a few sprigs)
Salt, pepper, and oregano (to taste)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon olive oil
100–150 g mozzarella cheese, shredded
100 g sliced sausage (or to taste)
Extra oregano and olive oil for finishing


Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–7 minutes until frothy.

  2. Add flour and salt, mixing to form a rough dough.

  3. Add olive oil and knead for 5–6 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

2. Prepare the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, combine tomato sauce, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano, and olive oil.

  • Stir in chopped parsley for a fresh flavor.

3. Shape the Dough:

  • Grease a 26 cm pizza pan with olive oil.

  • Roll or stretch the dough to fit the mold.

  • Press to the edges with your fingertips.

4. Assemble the Pizza:

  1. Spread the herbed tomato sauce over the dough.

  2. Top with shredded mozzarella.

  3. Add sausage slices evenly.

  4. Sprinkle with extra oregano and drizzle with olive oil.

5. Bake:

  • Preheat the oven to 250°C (480°F).

  • Bake for 17–20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

6. Serve:

 

  • Let cool slightly before slicing.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use warm, not hot water, to activate the yeast properly.

  • Resting the dough is crucial for a light, airy crust.

  • Don’t overload the pizza with toppings to prevent a soggy base.
